Driving along the south coast of the isle one reaches Galle where the Portuguese and later the Dutch built their Fort. The beach at Galle fringed by Coconut trees swaying to the gentle breeze of the Indian Ocean is an experience never to be forgotten.

After breakfast leave for SIGIRIYA, visiting the DAMBULLA golden rock temple. In the afternoon climb Sigiriya Rock the one time 'Rock Fortress', a UNESCO World Heritage site built in the 5th century AD by KING KASYAPPA. Overnight at Hotel Elephas Resort or similar
After breakfast proceed to POLONNARUWA, the 2nd capital of Ceylon. After a visit to the archaeological museum, drive to royal palace of KING PARAKRAMA BAHU the Great. Also get to see the quadrangle of temples including the GAL VIHARE with its monolithic granite statues emerging from the shrub jungles around watched by armies of monkeys.

After breakfast leave for Trincomalee location of the natural Deep water harbour. A visit fort Fredric which was initially constructed by the Portuguese in 1623 and later rebuilt by the Dutch prior to be taken over by the British in 1782 is a must. The well-known place of worship by the Hindus, Koneswaram Temple is located within the fort.
Your hotel is located in Nilaveli. A dip in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean on the east coast is where you will discover Coral island a sanctuary for birds. You could also trek to pigeon hill for a panoramic view of the Indian Ocean. Overnight at the Pigeon Island Beach Resort or similar.

After breakfast leave for KANDY visiting a spice garden and Batik factory en-route in MATALE.
Continue to KANDY, arrival transfer to hotel.
A visit to a Gem Museum and viewing a wide range of exotic Gem stones, the handicraft center and a drive upper lake for a panoramic view of the garden city. Thereafter visit the sacred Temple, Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha also referred as "Sri Dalada Maligawa" and witness the religious ceremony just before sunset at auspicious time set by the temple.
Evening witness the spectacular performance of a Kandyan dance show. Return to hotel for overnight at Hotel Earls Regent or similar
After early breakfast visit the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya after breakfast. This exotic garden of 147 acres is home to more than 4000 species of plants including some a unique collection of orchids.
Thereafter proceed to Nuwara Eliya escaping to the cool misty hills covered by pine trees and winding around the rolling carpets of tea, dotted steams and cascading waterfalls culminating with a visit to the tea factory where you will be enlightened in the entire process of tea manufacture. This is where the world's cuppa is brewed.
Evening take a stroll in the town and to the beautiful Gregory's Lake. Transfer to Hotel Galway Forest Lodge or similar for overnight.
After breakfast leave for YALA driving through stunning countryside. Late afternoon embark on a jeep safari of the Yala National Game Park home to that elusive leopard and the majestic elephant to mention but a few. Transfer to hotel for overnight.

After breakfast proceed to Colombo and drive through the City of Colombo: the Galle Face Green with a panoramic view of the Indian Ocean, the Presidential Secretariat (former Parliament), the Ganagarama Temple and the Independence Square.
